Tips from the National Sleep Foundation for a good night's sleep...
Keep a regular sleep schedule.
Avoid caffeine within 6-8 hours of going to sleep.
Avoid nicotine. Difficulty sleeping is just one more reason to quit smoking.
Avoid excessive alcohol, it leads to a night of less restful sleep.
Regular exercise at about 3 hours before bedtime makes it easier to fall asleep.
Avoid a heavy meal
close to bedtime.
Relaxing, routine, bedtime rituals such as reading or listening to music away from bright lights makes it easier to fall asleep.
Create a sleep promoting
environment - comfortable
and free of interruption.
Associate your bed with sleep.
Limit sleep time. If anxiety
prevents you from sleeping,
jot it down in a "worry" or
" to do book".

Your Visit to the Sleep Center
The diagnostic process is painless and private. We monitor your sleeping patterns and conduct extensive tests during overnight sleep studies. Sleep study rooms are private and comfortably appointed to facilitate sleep in a home-like setting. The testing data is then scored by a Sleep Technologist. A Sleep Center Physician with a specialty in Pulmonology interprets the findings and outlines a medical solution that is just right for you.
Personalized Care
The Sleep Center at MVH offers its patients personalized care from a team of experts. Once the initial sleep evaluation is complete, the Sleep Center Physician will work with your primary doctor and a team of specialists to find a treatment program that will work for you. These specialists may include cardiologists, dentists, psychologists, psychiatrists, ear, nose and throat specialists or even a massage therapist. Rest assured, we'll have you sleeping well in no time.
